Title:
Benefits of psychotherapy training: Midwives perspectives
Authors:
Rodgers, Liz
Abstract:
The aim of this study is to explore the lived experience of being a midwife who has undertaken psychotherapy training. The research method, heuristic inquiry, was chosen as it allowed the researcher to be involved in the process from initial engagement to creative synthesis. The aim of the study is to determine – what benefit, if any, had psychotherapy training for you as a practising midwife? The heuristic inquiry allowed the study to focus on the subjective experience of the phenomenon. The study identifies the lack of research in this area and puts forward suggestions for further projects. In conclusion, the study highlights that there are benefits for midwives who have undertaken psychotherapy training
