Title:
Theft and gender in late medieval Bologna
Authors:
Dean, Trevor
Abstract:
The history of theft in one well-documented Italian city in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries is the subject of this paper, focusing on the issue of the differences (supposed and observable) between male and female thieves and robbers. I argue that the shared characteristics of criminal behaviour, between men and women, are more significant than the differences.
